plus everything that I hear will leave the WOC at the same power level compare to other armies as they were before.

Ogres are getting the biggest boost I think. O&G and skaven are also getting a bit of a boost. Daemons are going to get toned down a little, and there might be trouble for wood elves.

Did anyone else get the email about the new boxed set? Based on the photo at the bottom I would say it looks like high elves and skaven..... thoughts?

I was in the area today so I dropped into J&J's and put in a hold for two copies of the rulebook for Colin and myself. Can't wait for next weekend!

Anybody else planning to get the BRB?  Who is planning to wait for the starter set?  I figure I'll probably also buy the starter set to get the mini rulebook.  I'll just sell off the models it comes with.

The BoLS guys did a ranking of how they think the armies will tier in 8th. Not sure I agree with all their positions but it's an interesting analysis to say the least.

Interesting, although the woodelves didn't really change anything, just small housekeeping stuff so the army book matches the main one. As for the woodelves becoming a low tier army ill have to agree. As woodevles are played now they are total garbage, but ive some ideas of new army lists which might still make them competitive, but i dont think to the same degree they were before. Just will have to play and find out the hard way.

I have similar concerns about the TK. The magic is not changing fortunately for the most part. They still won't be using power dice to cast incantations. My main concern is that apparently our chariot units will require 2 ranks in order to break another units rank bonus. That means I need a unit about the size of a sheet of paper. That sucks large. Also Ushabti would need to be a unit costing a minimum of 390pts. Ouch.  So that pretty much leaves me with nothing but skeletons. Not exactly a strong army.

I have a feeling the Dwarfs will probably become my main army since they will indeed be able to charge up to 15". RUN STUNTIES RUN!

I've read through the bulk of the rules now all the way up to (but not including) terrain rules. It's going to be interesting.  On the surface the changes don't seem that drastic, but in the application the games are going to be very different!  Close combat is going to be a brutal, bloody phase for sure!

Finished my first 8th Edition Dwarf list at lunch today! Made it for 2500pts.

I ended up with the following:
  • 42% core
  • 40% special
  • 5% rare
  • 13% heroes
This is pretty much my normal list except the units were consolidated to make them much larger.  As always I tend to favour the core units, I don't think the 25% minimum will ever be an issue for me!

A 6 page FAQ (3 of which is errata) has been released for the new BRB. Apparently they missed entire items and stat lines and whatnot so definitely take some time to read it.
